This class is more involved with traditional millinery skills. You will be starting with a wool hood of the your choice, steaming and initial shaping will be taught in the first session. The second session will involve sewing the head-size band, trimming brim width and pouncing. The third session will involve decorating.

The application of sizing will be finished by Le Petit Chapeau as it is a time consuming process but accomplished in small blocks of time. This is simply to aid the you in the completion of the hat in a more reasonable amount of time, and to eliminate having to visit the studio three additional times for 15 – 20 minutes. The application of sizing can be learned theoretically and does not need to be executed by you, unless of course you have the time and inclination to do so. This can be discussed when you sign up.

Feathers, Flowers and ribbons for decorating will be supplied and we can assist you in your choices and execution of decorations. This hat will be made to fit you. You will also get to choose the shape of the hat from a our selection of blocks.

Wool hood colour choice to be made at time of registration. Sample colours are available for viewing at the studio. Come in anytime during regular Studio hours. Wednesday to Saturday 10 – 5
