There is an antique mall that Meaghan and I often go to on our days off. On the door they have one of those fantastic ‘over the door doorbells’ that no one makes anymore. Every time we walk in, the sound greets us with a happy chime and Meaghan says how much she has always wanted one. Last Friday the story was much the same. We don’t always go looking for anything in particular and last Friday was purely for the pleasure of looking around. I ended up buying a few things, five espresso cups, a card case and fantastically an ‘over the door doorbell’.
I have always had a knack for finding things and during our wandering of the maze like building we continued to talk about that bell and possible ways to make one. I kept thinking about how great it would be to have one on our shop door and then there it was on the shelf in front of me. It was in the middle of Meaghan telling me how they are impossible to find and about finding one that was far more than she wanted to pay. I picked it up with a ring and said “Here’s one!” She blinked at me and asked how much. It was twelve dollars and I happily bought it.
Later, I installed the bell in it’s new home and now every morning it greets me with that happy ring.
